PTO PSYCHOLOGIST POSITION SUMMARY

Under the guidance of the Regional Mental Health Director and Chief Psychologist, the Psychologists will: Provide intensive evidence-based individual and/or group therapy and crisis intervention for incarcerated individuals experiencing severe mental health crises (i.e., psychosis, suicidality, self-injurious behaviors, delusions, trauma, etc.). Assist in implementing evidence-based assessments for incarcerated individuals during the intake process. Supervise RDU psychological evaluators, intake investigators, psychometrist(s) and substance use disorder staff. Conduct annual performance reviews of RDU supervisees. Engage in administrative duties including writing clinical reports and participating in meetings. Train MDOC and VCHS staff on managing mental health crises, de-escalation techniques, and suicide prevention. Psychologists will administer evidence-based suicide risk evaluations/assessment/protocol. Collaborate with and engage in consultation with psychiatrists and other licensed mental health professionals. Engage in other clinical activities as designated by the Regional Behavior Health Director and Chief Psychologist.

PSYCHOLOGIST MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Must be licensed or license-eligible in the state of Mississippi.
