Job Description
TITLE:
School Psychologist
QUALIFICATIONS
1. A master’s degree or higher from an accredited
college or university.
2. Valid license to practice as a school psychologist
(Level II or III)
3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the
Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL:
To facilitate the learning and development of students by
promoting their cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and social
development.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conducts assessments appropriate to the focus of concern and according to
prevailing professional standards.
2. Uses assessment data to make recommendations relative to instructional
strategies and program eligibility.
3. Assists in planning and developing interventions, programs, and/or services
based on the identified needs of students.
4. Counsels students on educational and personal adjustment issues on a priority
basis, as time permits, and assists with crisis intervention counseling.
5. Consults with teachers, other school staff, and parents about ways to facilitate
learning and adjustment for individuals or groups of students.
6. Helps provide liaison and coordination between the school system and other
relevant agencies to facilitate services for students and families.
7. Plans and implements in-service programs for staff and/or parents, as needed.
8. Delivers services consistent with the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) and the American Psychological Association (APA) principles and professional standards of practice.
9. Observes federal, state, and local policies and regulations in the delivery of school psychological services.
10. Works to ensure students’ rights and welfare in the school and community.
11. Engages in continuing professional development by assessing one’s own needs and seeking ways to address needs.
12. Physical ability (able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally) and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
13. Position is contingent on finishing all required duties and may involve minimal extended employment beyond the school year.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Ten, eleven, or twelve month year. Salary and work schedule to be in accordance with current schedule.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of School Psychologist.
