Position Summary:

The school psychologist helps children and youth succeed academically, socially, and emotionally by partnering and collaborating with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students that strengthen connections between home and school. The school psychologist will address students’ learning and behavioral problems, suggest improvements to classroom strategies and evaluate students with exceptionalities to help determine the best way to provide the educational program. The school psychologist provides valuable services such as consultation with educators on research-based best practices to address learning and behavioral problems, evaluation of children and youth for special education services, and intervention by participating in the school’s multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) framework.

Essential Functions:

Writes and reviews evaluation and reevaluation reports.
Responds to parent requests for evaluation.
Ensures that student progress is evaluated on a regular, systematic basis and that findings are used in making decisions to improve program effectiveness as it relates to specific student needs.
Conducts comprehensive psycho-educational evaluations across the state of Pennsylvania.
Provides consultative services to school personnel regarding student needs.
Collaborates with the school administration to ensure compliance for students with disabilities.
Functions as a liaison between the school and family in the student assessment and interpretation of test results.
Analyzes outcomes and evaluates instructional support programs to recommend appropriate changes in purposes, designs, materials, and implementation.
Participates in IEP meetings and other meetings as needed which could require virtual or face to face attendance
Interprets diagnoses to school personnel, other concerned professionals, parents, and students.
Assumes responsibility for the timely completion, maintenance, and filing of reports, records, and other documents
Conveys and instills high expectations for each student based on fundamental philosophy that all students can learn
Collaborates with parents and school personnel in sharing information about students, consistent with legal requirements, and recommends appropriate interventions for students in need of support services.
Gathers statistical data required in planning the educational programs for students with disabilities.
Assumes responsibility for the accuracy, validity, and interpretation of assessment results as related to special education eligibility determination.
Helps to ensure the implementation of state and federal regulations related to special education and policies/regulations established by federal and state law.
Explains and interprets special education-related policies and procedures to students, parents, staff, and the community.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

Master’s Degree in School Psychology or related field
Pennsylvania State Certification in School Psychology

Preferred Education and Experience:

Three years’ experience as a school psychologist

This job operates in a professional virtual environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers.
