A Brief Overview The Division of Outpatient Behavioral Health is seeking a psychologist with expertise in the assessment and treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children and adolescents. The Psychologist provides psychological services to patients throughout the CHOP outpatient program, participates in the educational experience of trainees, establishes plans and initiates professional growth and leadership within the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, and presents work at the local or regional level. The role of the Psychologistis to carry out diagnostic evaluations and evidence-based psychosocial intervention with a diverse population of children and families ranging from early childhood through adolescence. Treatment is provided to individual patients, families, and through group formats. Primary diagnoses addressed fall under the categories of ADHD and Disruptive Impulse-Control and Conduct Disorders, including but not limited to oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, and intermittent explosive disorder. The ideal candidate will have experience addressing common comorbid conditions, interpreting psychoeducational assessments, and identifying learning/academic concerns. Advanced training in behavioral parent training, school consultation, and behavioral health diagnostic evaluation is preferred. Psychologists are encouraged to support training across disciplines in our multidisciplinary department (child psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, and nurse practitioners) and to contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives in the division. Psychologists appointed to this position are strongly encouraged to join the faculty in Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine of University of Pennsylvania. What you will do Clinical Activity Provides comprehensive assessment and treatment services to children and families, in inpatient, day hospital, and/or outpatient settings, and communicates with referral sources as indicated
Performs clinical services at a percent of effort as designated by supervisor.
Adheres to DCAPBS productivity standards.
In settings where patients are scheduled into appointments, presents an Epic schedule that rolls out, per department/division guidelines, delineating availability and anticipated vacation and conference time. Schedule must include enough openings to cover productivity expectations plus anticipated late cancellations/no shows.
Follows all CHOP and DCAPBS policies and procedures regarding clinical and administrative activity associated with providing direct patient care.
Assure that professional practice is in accordance with applicable professional and licensing body standards
Practices as an Independent Clinician
Assures that CHOP, DCAPBS, Joint Commission and other regulatory body patient care standards are met.
Assures that all CHOP and DCAPBS clinical and billing documentation standards are met
Assures that all of the above standards are met through regular and periodic direct observation of clinical activity, chart review and discussion with non-DCAPBS team members.
May serve in clinical leadership roles such as:
Developing clinical and treatment protocols, peer education programs, and monitoring compliance through direct observation and chart review
Collaborating with other DCAPBS clinicians to operationalize and grow empirically-based models of care that best serve the needs of patients
Acting as a resource and mentor for DCAPBS clinicians
Demonstrating leadership in developing programs and designing/executing QI and/or patient safety initiatives Collaboration Collaborate with DCAPBS and other Department/Division colleagues to assure that patients receive care consistent with patient circumstance and need.
Respond to requests for consultation and service in a timely manner.
Participates in DCAPBS and CHOP committees in membership and/or leadership capacity
Work collaboratively with DCAPBS administration to support patients in being appropriately scheduled.
Attends and participates in department/division/institution meetings appropriate for or required by role. Teaching Participates in education and training within the department’s training programs. This may include providing clinical supervision, lectures, and facilitated learning experiences
Establishes themselves as providing high-quality educational experiences for department trainees
Contributes to interprofessional training activities and experiences
Participates in activities of the training faculty
Engages in professional activities
Membership in national professional organizations, for example, American Psychological Association (APA)
Active in multiple DCAPBS, CHOP, regional, and national activities
Participates in the dissemination of psychological science and/or clinical care at a local, regional or national level Clinical Research Conducts research of significant scientific value relevant to their practice specialty.
Participates in the design, planning and conduct of psychological research.
Collaborates on data analysis and dissemination of findings.
Composes/assists in developing publications for peer reviewed, scientific journals.
Assists with the submission of applications for grants/contracts for funding of research projects.
Responsible for appropriate use of research funds.
May provide psychological services, supervision, and consultation within research protocols. Other Demonstrates commitment to Department/Division and hospital
Completes all mandatory education requirements, annual PPD testing, flu vaccine and other vaccinations as per CHOP policy
Maintain licensure including completion of required continuing education
Collaborates with internal staff to complete CHOP requirements to include but not limited to Medical Staff Application
Establish plans for professional growth with supervisor
Participates in clinical program development
Participates in community service
Participates in ongoing professional practice evaluations as a clinician and peer reviewer Education Qualifications High School Diploma / GED
