Job Description

School Psychologist Bilingual Therapies Newberry, SC 29108 Job Summary The School Psychologist plays a vital role in supporting the mental health and educational development of students within the school environment. This position involves working collaboratively with educators, parents, and other professionals to assess and address the psychological and emotional needs of students. The School Psychologist will provide individual and group counseling, develop safety plans, and contribute to the creation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs, including those with autism and developmental disabilities. Duties Conduct psychological assessments to evaluate students’ cognitive, emotional, and social development. Provide individual and group counseling services to students facing behavioral health challenges. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to develop and implement effective IEPs. Create safety plans for students at risk of harm or exhibiting challenging behaviors. Offer support and guidance to families regarding child family counseling resources. Maintain accurate medical documentation related to student assessments and interventions. Participate in multidisciplinary teams to address student needs effectively. Provide training and resources for staff on best practices for supporting students with autism and developmental disabilities. Qualifications Master’s or Doctoral degree in School Psychology or a related field. Valid state certification or licensure as a School Psychologist. Experience working with children and families in educational settings is preferred. Strong understanding of behavioral health principles and practices. Knowledge of IEP processes and special education regulations. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people, including educators, parents, and community agencies. Familiarity with social work principles is a plus.
