Duties Description As a Principal Psychologist, you would supervise, direct, and coordinate the activities of subordinate psychologists and other clinical positions engaged in the provision of psychological services, performing psychological evaluations, developing and implementing plans of treatment for individuals and groups, providing technical direction to program staff, maintaining records, writing reports, and assisting in the development of treatment plans.

If you are appointed and lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment. Continued employment as a Licensed Psychologist is dependent upon current licensure and registration by New York State as a Licensed Psychologist. Loss of licensure and registration may result in removal from employment. The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be licensed and registered to practice Psychology in New York State AND be reachable for appointment on the current Civil Service eligible list for the title;
OR Transfer Opportunity:
Candidates must have permanent status as a Principal Psychologist, and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. In order to be eligible for 70.1 transfer, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a qualifying title within two salary grades of the SG-27 level. Additionally, candidate must be licensed and registered to practice psychology in New York State.
OR Provisional Opportunity:
In the absence of an appropriate eligible list, a provisional appointment may be made. In order to be eligible for a provisional appointment, you must be licensed and registered to practice psychology in New York State AND have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Psychologist 2, Associate Psychologist, or Licensed Psychologist. Candidates appointed provisionally must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title, and their score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before they can be permanently appointed. Candidates who do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score may not be retained. Additional comments regarding the vacancy.
