FT Days JobSummary:

The Staff Radiation Therapist in the Radiation OncologyDepartment applies ionizing radiation to a diverse population ofpatients in accordance with the prescription and instructions ofthe Radiation Oncologist. They must be capable of operatingradiation-producing equipment utilizing radiation safety measuresand be able to perform a series of complex and precise technicalprocedures.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Participates in Quality Control monitoring.

• a.

Delivers consistentprecise therapy to a designated treatment area.

• b.

Demonstratesskill in patient assessment, performing procedures and givingspecialty care to patients, considering the age of the patient andappropriately adopts care for age (adolescent, adult andgeriatrics).

• c.

Documents appropriately in Electronic MedicalRecord (EMR)

• d.

Demonstrates a willingness to perform additionaltasks and gives assistance when necessary to others.

• e.

Recognizesown limitations and/or needs and seeks assistance as needed.

• f.

Reports adverse reactions to physician immediately and followspolicy and procedure (P/P) for documentation.

• g.

Educatespatient/family on expected side effects, use of blocks, wedges andother treatment aids.

• h.

Follows P/P to ensure precise treatmentper physician prescription.

• i.

Follows P/P to ensure precisetreatment per physicists instruction in chart or computer. Followsproper procedure to ensure safety to self and patient.

• a.

Assessesmobility of patients and manages accordingly, looks at EMR for fallprecautions.

• b.

Wears radiation safety badges at all times.

• c.

Practices universal precautions.

• d.

Participates in dailywarm-up procedures to ensure output is within tolerances

• e.

Advises manager of any discrepancies and any material item thatneeds replaced or fixed as soon as possible Understands andcompletes correctly all patient set-ups

• a.

Simulates new patientsand/or patients with new treatment fields with no errors andaccording to physicians written order in EMR.

• b.

Schedulespatients appropriately and always lets patient know of any changesprior to changes being made. Miscellaneous items

Will do othertasks as assigned

Participates in on-call rotation

• c.

Isactive as a student clinical instructor with both RTT and RTRstudents. Will evaluate and give feedback to both students andClinical Advisor.

Required Minimum Education:

Associate’s DegreeMust be a graduate from an accredited Radiation therapy programRequired Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): Allcertifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

• ARRT Radiation Therapy
• Basic Life Support or BLS
• InstructorAdditional License(s) and Certification(s):
