- RequiredEssential Duties & Responsibilities 1.
Provide patient education tomaximize patient compliance with his/her plan of care and providefamily education when needed. 2. Monitor patient’s physical andphysiological response to treatment and refer the patient forappropriate management when indicated. 3. Demonstrate respect forpatient confidentiality, modesty, and privacy. 4. Administerradiation therapy treatment accurately and safely; monitor andreport reactions, therapeutic responses, and inconsistencies. 5.Demonstrate appropriate knowledge of the principles of growth anddevelopment from infant through the geriatric stage of life span.6. Assess patient relative data pertinent to age-specific needs andprovide care as described in the department policy and proceduremanual. 7. Position, immobilize, and align patients according tothe treatment plan and effectively evaluate and solve set-upproblems. 8. Maintain logs and daily treatment records, includingaccurate documentation of all treatment procedures. 9. Possessknowledge of all scheduling, treatment, and billing proceduresinvolving the Record and Verify System; can troubleshoot andconsult with appropriate personnel to resolve discrepancies. 10.Understand the function of equipment, accessories, treatmentmethods, and protocols and apply knowledge appropriately. 11. Workwith the Sr. Radiation Therapist to resolve clinical problems. 12.Utilize a quality assurance program to encompass all aspects oftreatment delivery and quality patient care. 13. Instruct andorient new Radiation Therapists, students, and other staff membersunfamiliar with the department and/or specific procedures. 14.Adapt contingency plans in response to variables that influenceworkload and/or schedule. 15. Demonstrate cooperation and teamworkand is responsive to all members. 16. Attend and participate inscheduled Departmental and Therapist Staff Meetings. 17. Maintainand can provide annual documentation of the required amount ofContinuing Education Credits needed for licensure. 18. Be an activemember of a professional organization; participate in professionalactivities by attending meetings, serving on committees or taskforces, and writing and/or presenting scientific papers. 19.Participate in the clinical instruction and evaluation of theRadiation Therapy Technology students.
