ELMHURST, NY Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Radiation Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality radiation therapy to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the treatment process. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as proficiency in radiation therapy techniques and medical imaging. Duties Administer radiation treatments to patients in accordance with prescribed protocols and treatment plans. Collaborate with oncologists and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans. Ensure accurate positioning of patients and equipment for optimal treatment delivery. Monitor patients during therapy sessions, providing support and addressing any concerns or side effects. Maintain detailed records of treatments administered and patient responses. Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Educate patients about the treatment process, potential side effects, and aftercare instructions. Stay current with advancements in radiation therapy techniques and technologies. Qualifications Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to oncology and radiation therapy. Familiarity with mammography procedures is a plus. Proficient in radiation therapy techniques, including CT imaging and other medical imaging modalities. In-depth understanding of anatomy and physiology relevant to cancer treatment. Experience in critical care or acute care settings is preferred. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Certification from an accredited radiation therapy program is required.
