MajorResponsibilities:
  • Competently performs basic and intermediateradiographic procedures including general diagnostic and generalfluoroscopic.
  • Communicates with patients to explain procedures,obtain clinical history, confirm acknowledgment of patients’understanding and address any questions or concerns.
  • Positionspatients and selects exposure factors for various radiologicexaminations, and provides patient with radiation protection andsafety in accordance with prescribed methods.
  • Identifies patientand labels images pertaining to the patient, compares requisitionsto physician’s orders to ensure exam accuracy, and processes imagesensuring quality of radiographs and calls back patients asnecessary.
  • Assists, communicates and consults with theRadiologists.
  • Prepares and maintains records in accordance withvarious regulatory agencies and enters patient and studyinformation into the radiology information system, and documentsbilling codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patientcharges.
  • Performs various patient positioning and transportingduties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizingproper technique.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge andskills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of thepatients served.

Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles ofgrowth and development over the life span and possess the abilityto assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret theappropriate information needed to identify each patient’srequirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to providethe care needed as described in the department’s policies andprocedures. Age-specific information is developed further in thedepartmental job standards. Licensure, Registration, and/or

Certification Required:
  • Radiographer license issued by the stateof Wisconsin, and
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registrationissued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT),and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providerscertification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needsto be obtained within 6 months.
Education Required:
  • Advancedtraining beyond High School that includes the completion of anaccredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
ExperienceRequired:
  • No experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesRequired:
  • Competent in radiology positioning and techniques.
  • Knowledge of basic radiation safety and radiology equipment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skillsto work effectively with physicians, patients and other staffmembers.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate computerskills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Must beable to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach aboveshoulders frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able tostand/walk for majority of the day.
  • Must be able to:
  • lift upto 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
  • lift up to 20 lbs. over thehead.
  • carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Must be ableto:
  • push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
  • perform a slidingtransfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • May be exposedto mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as wellas blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipmentmust be worn as necessary.
  • Must have clear speech, vision, andhearing.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
