JOB SUMMARY

Performs a variety of high-quality ultrasound examinations for all patient populations, including abdomen/visceral, breast, small parts, vascular, gynecological, obstetric 1st trimester, and neonatal, according to established departmental protocols and procedures. Responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic MRI procedures in accordance with established protocols and under the direction/supervision of a radiologist. Position includes participation in on call coverage rotation and holiday shift coverage.

RESPONSIBILITIES MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Reviews patient schedules before patients arrives.
2. Demonstrates a proactive approach in confirming the patients arrival.
3. Appropriately choose correct patient based on schedule and priority.
4. Review scripts and all pertinent prior studies and notes.
A. Check for blood work when necessary.
B. Check authorization when necessary.
5. Confirm patient identification by asking patient to spell last name and provide D.O.B.
A. Apply appropriate screening questions for MRI safety following departments policy and procedure.

Collect clinical/medical history from patient:

A. Confirm the ordered test and laterality/body part
B. Why are they here for the exam.
C. Explain the exam to the patient in simple terms.
D. If necessary, call ordering physician for new script (s)
7. Perform exam according to diagnosis, patient history, and protocol.
8. Provide as much comfort to the patient as possible during exam.
9. Check all imaging before releasing the patient.
10. Input information to Meditech, including taken status, depart, and billing.
11. Input all clinical information into

PACS/ARIS

portal and check that all images were sent.
12. Appropriate communication should take place depending on the priority and findings of the exam.
13. All technical & clinical aspects should be communicated through the technologist.
14. Provide communication about any delays to patient.

QUALIFICATIONS

3-5 years experience preferred, but not required.
Ability to apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Ability to recognize and respond to medical emergencies.
Has developed skills to practice in a safe clinical environment.
Proficient in IV set up.
Knowledgeable in safe vs. unsafe metallic implants
