JOB SUMMARY
Performs a variety of medicalimaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols.
Functions as the first line interface with the customers in thesuccessful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates incall rotation for computed tomography/ultrasound. Participates inCQI activities.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible forthe care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use ofequipment to minimize the hazards of electric shock, burns andextraneous radiation to patients. Explains procedures to patientsatisfaction regarding discharge and/or home care. Uses two patientidentifiers before performing any procedure. Responsible for safehandling of equipment and films. Instructs and prepares patientsfor roentgenographic and fluoroscopic films. Selects appropriateequipment to use for procedures. Determines the most suitableanatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.
Able to assess patient pain interfering with procedures; makesappropriate physician contact for intervention. Performs allaspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patientsafety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Makes special radiographic examinations requiring special equipmentand procedures such as: intravenous pyelograms, intravenouscholangiograms, bronchograms, mammograms, hysterosalpingograms,tomograms, cholangiography, arthrograms, myelograms and hippinning’s in surgery. Programs portable or stationary x-raymachines and makes radiograms for a variety of examinations.
Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures. Assists inmaintaining basic records, reports, and maintaining files. Assistsin training of students and ancillary personnel Takes x-ray, CAT,Ultrasound and Angio calls according to the monthly schedule afterthe closing of the regular department hours. Interactsprofessionally with patients/family. Completes all work beforeclocking out and leaving. This includes checking with nurses’stations. EDUCATION and
EXPERIENCE
Basic computer skills Highschool graduate Graduation from an AMA approved school ofRadiologic Technology, either college affiliated or hospitaltrained. Registered with the American Registry of RadiologicTechnologists Certified by the State of Texas to practice andadminister radiation. Current BLS certification
LANGUAGE
SKILLSAble to communicate effective in English, both verbally and inwriting. Additional language a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must beable to walk, stand, sit for extended periods of time. Must be ableto lift patients with assistance from other personnel.
