X-Ray Technician and Front Desk Registration Emergency Physicians Medical Center 2445 SW 76th Street, Gainesville, FL 32608 Upon hire, BMO technicians are eligible for 4 weeks of paid orientation as well as ongoing one-on-one training with an experienced ARRT. We are seeking a dedicated BMO to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in working with Emergency Medicine physicians to provide high-quality diagnostic imaging services to patients in a fast-paced Urgent Care setting.
Job Overview:
The X-Ray Technician supports the day-to-day operations of Emergency Physicians Medical Center by producing general and specific X-rays for diagnostic purposes and supporting the back clinical team as well as the front desk patient registration team, including but not limited to the following tasks:
Clinical Duties:
- Operating X-ray and fluoroscopic equipment for assisting physicians with diagnosing and/or treating disease and/or injury.
- Preparing rooms, equipment and materials for diagnostic tests as ordered by the physicians.
- Positioning patients and arranging immobilization and support devices for patients.
- Adjusting and setting radiographic controls to prescribed specifications for proper voltage and exposure time.
- Checking X-rays for clarity of image and retaking X-rays when needed.
- Practicing radiation protection techniques which meet or exceed recommended industry standards to limit radiation exposure to patients and staff; practicing ALARA.
- Maintaining quality control checks to ensure that all equipment is in good working condition and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Making minor adjustments to radiographic equipment as appropriate or determining repairs needed and making appropriate arrangements in order to maintain safety at all times.
- Implementing infection control procedures for the work area.
- Maintaining required records such as patient records, daily logbooks and completing paperwork accurately and on time.
- Maintaining radiographic supplies and equipment.
- Scheduling appointments with local hospitals or diagnostic centers for patients needing special examinations or additional diagnostic tests.
- Maintaining examination rooms. Stocking necessary office and radiologic supplies.
- Requesting, retrieving, and tracking films as appropriate.
- Working closely with the physician to receive guidance and instruction for treating patients.
- Performing administrative/clerical duties that assist in the delivery of care and patient care management under the direction of a physician.
- Providing patient care by assisting the physicians in examining and treating patients.
- Preparing the examination rooms including cleaning as necessary.
- Practicing a “Concierge Customer Service” to help patients feel comfortable during the entire process.
Front Desk Registration:
- Assuring the readiness of the reception area at both centers; maintaining a tidy environment.
- Performing front-end registration; assisting patients in accurately completing forms. Entering information into EMR.
- Greeting, instructing, discharging and providing general assistance to patients.
- Verifying insurance, obtaining pre-authorization for visits and collecting payments prior to service.
- Answering telephone calls efficiently and professionally and assessing urgency of calls.
- Providing assistance to patients, customers and vendors; taking messages or directing callers to appropriate person.
- Tracking referrals as appropriate from physicians.
- Collecting and posting fees according to protocols; balancing daily cash sheet, cash payment book, counting and balancing daily cash safe at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Assisting in maintaining current medical records and responding to medical records requests (timely and in accordance with HIPAA) from Physician Offices, Attorneys, Insurance Companies, Workers Comp and Patients.
- Assisting in resolving any patient grievances.
- Maintaining all front desk forms required to complete registration.
- Maintaining professional knowledge by frequently reviewing and updating resources provided.
