Oversees the operations of the CTdepartment, equipment, and personnel and is receptive of patients’needs while maintaining open communication with the staff toresolve any conflicts which may arise. Utilizes ComputerizedTomography Scanners to produce cross-sectional images of patient’sinternal organs and tissues for diagnosis of medical issues.

Follows and guides the staff to follow all Radiation Safety andALARA policies as well as state and federal regulations to ensurelow-dose CT Imaging is an integral part of practice.

Minimum JobRequirements:

Florida General Radiography Technology License

  • active and ingood standing throughout employment Minimum 5 year experience as a Lead CT Technologist in an acutecare pediatric hospital setting Registered by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists(ARRT) and Certification in CT

ESSENTIAL JOBDUTIES

Utilizes dose reduction technology and monitoring to optimizepatient dose. Sends to the Dose Monitoring system once the scan iscomplete. Participates in Imaging Safety Committee and is responsible forthe CT Dose Monitoring Reporting. Responsible for continuous monitoring of CT Dose alerts. Supervises staff and provides technical direction. Orients,trains, and evaluates Technologists regarding department policiesand procedures. Responsible for the Service Excellence Index (SEI) for patientsand families and implements strategies to increase SEI. Complies with all standards for safety, risk management, andinfection control as required by enforcement agencies. Coordinates scheduling, transporting and scanning of patientsto maximize utilization of CT scanners. Edits Kronos transactions in a timely manner and withinestablished guidelines, as demonstrated with minimal edits bypayroll department. Coordinates the staffing scheduling and flow of operations toensure business operations and budget needs are met. Assists with ordering supplies, monitors inventory, maintainscleanliness of the equipment, and scan room. Conducts rounding to optimize workflow and improve the patientand family experience. Updates leadership on monthly budget expenses. Looks foropportunities to be cost effective. Accountable for all QC for department to optimize operationsand patient flow and safety. Participates in Lean committee, DNV readiness for imaging, andImaging Operations staff meetings. Organizes and participates inconferences, technical meeting, and other educationactivities. Ensures adherence to all state and federal regulatoryrequirements, maintains survey readiness, and radiation safetypractices. Follows hospital patient-identification policy prior toperforming examination. Utilizes two patient identifiers prior toinitiating any procedure. Makes recommendations regarding hiring, training, evaluating,promotion and disciplinary actions for employees. Conductsperformance reviews in timely manner. Explains the examination and procedures to patients andparents. Checks history and previous imaging history withdesignated Radiologist. Responsible for the ‘On Call’ and daily schedule. Ensuresadequate PTO coverage for area. Responsible for maintaining protocol manual. Reports any equipment problems or malfunctions to Leader andClinical Engineering. Assists the Director in preparing the annual departmentalcapital and operational budget requests for machines needed in theCT Department. Communicates effectively and collaboratively withinterdisciplinary team; shares information within timelines to aidtop outcomes for patients and families. Participates indepartmental huddle. Prepares monthly reports for Diagnostic CT scan statisticsincluding: Operates Expense/UOS and Total Man Hours/ UOS.

CommonDuties:

Maintains accountability by ensuring compliance thru timelycompletion of licensures, certifications, all competencies, healthrequirements (PPD, N95, Flu, etc.), and educationrequirements. Maintains accountability and timekeeping expectations asoutlined by MCHS Timekeeping and Attendance policy and procedures.

Ensures behavior is compliant with communication standards. Ensures behavior meets and/or exceeds targeted service scoresas measured by the Service Index and/or the internal departmentalservice survey.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients,families, and co-workers. Thorough knowledge of radiological and Ultrasound terminology,practices, procedures, physiology, and human anatomy. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and inwriting. Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to problem solve and to adapt standard clinicalprocedures to the individual client’s need.
