The RadiologyTechnologist performs a variety of radiographic procedures at atechnical level not requiring constant supervision of technicaldetail that requires independent judgment, ingenuity and initiativeto apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis.

This position requires population specific competencies. Adheres toNational Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level ofpatient contact this position requires.

Operates radiographic equipmentMonitors the use ofradiographic equipment for proper functioning, promptly reportsmalfunctionsUses safety devices such as cones, collimators, leadaprons, gloves and gonad shields to assure maximum radiationsafetyPerforms necessary computer and clerical functions regardingradiology requestsStocks and maintains orderliness in radiographicexam roomsUtilizes appropriate nursing procedure technique toprovide necessary care and safety for patients while in theradiology department

Collects and processeslaboratory samples following established laboratory procedures asrequested by provider.

The Radiology Technologist reports to theRadiology Technologist Lead and/or Radiology Manager / Director.

This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/orrespiratory fit test requirements. Please consult the PhysicalDemands Project SharePoint site or contact Risk Management/EmployeeHealth for additional information. Some possibility of injury tofingers in operating equipment by getting them caught in cassettes,bucky trays or film bin. Possibility of contamination or infectionthrough accidental needle punctures; inhaling chemical fumes fromprocessors while developing radiographs; exposure to radiation.

Frequent contact with patients with contagious diseases and withelectrical equipment. All applicants will receive considerationregardless of membership in any protected status as defined byapplicable state or federal law, including protected veteran ordisability status.

Associate Degree preferred.

Must have completed aRadiologic Technology accredited program.

Radiography certificationby the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is requiredwithin 12 months of hire.

Current CPR certification required within90 days of hire.

Must be able to communicate effectively(Verbal/Written).by Jobble
