We are looking for a dedicated CT Technologist Weekends like you to be a part of our team. Job Summary and Qualifications Under general supervision, operates Cat-Scan equipment, positions patients to produce diagnostic radiographs in a safe manner and performs related duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Operates CT equipment to make radiographs, scans of designated portions of body. Adjusts equipment and patient to correct positions for each examination. Instructs and explains procedures to patients. Selects proper technical factors, on an individual patient basis.
Performs reconstruction and special processing (CT Angio) of data. Evaluates completed radiographs/scans for positioning, technique and adequacy of examination.
Closely observes patients, performs first aid, as necessary, confers with physician when requested exams appear at odds with the patient’s condition, and generally, maintains an acute awareness of any patient under his/her control.
Ensures that all exams are entered appropriately, makes edits as required, moves exam to taken status and verifies for the radiologist to read with all required documents.
Records and maintains exam information in CT log.
Properly records radiation dose into Meditech and reports outliers as required.
Performs QC functions as required.
Properly documents all medications used in the EMAR.
Receives verbal orders for examinations from a responsible practitioner in keeping with the state license.
Demonstrates Customer principles and behaviors appropriately.
Reviews current developments in trends and techniques of diagnostic CT, including dose reduction, by completing TipTV education, reading technical journals, participating in in-service education programs, attending conferences, etc. on an annual basis.
Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness, including provision for the contamination free condition of rooms, equipment and personnel.
Reviews the patient’s chart to obtain pertinent clinical history, correlative test results, and laboratory data and documents this information for the Radiologist.
Adheres to prescribed standards of Radiation Safety; participates in the Quality Improvement and safety programs.
Ensures appropriate recording of hours worked, adhering to hospital policy.
What qualifications you will need:
Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Registered Radiographer (ARRT) (R) required; (CT) required within 12 months of hire
State of Florida Registered Radiologic Technologist
Associate Degree in Radiological Technology required
Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and CT concepts to include: head, chest, Abdomen, pelvis, spine, MSK, CTA
Knowledge of CT invasive procedures to include biopsy, drainages, etc and basic knowledge about supplies used such as catheter and biopsy needles
Knowledge of contrast administration and contraindications.
