CT Technologist Job Description The CT Technologist operates in both inpatient and outpatient settings, performing a variety of CT scan imaging procedures to diagnose medical conditions. You will handle CT scan equipment to produce quality images for detecting pathologies and abnormalities in patients. Responsibilities include obtaining consent, preparing patients, and explaining procedures to them. The patient population ranges from newborn to geriatric, requiring care appropriate to their condition and age. Responsibilities Perform CT scan imaging procedures to diagnose medical conditions. Operate CT scan equipment to produce quality images. Obtain consent and prepare patients for procedures. Explain procedures to patients ranging from newborn to geriatric. Determine the most suitable anatomical posture/position and shield patients accordingly. Collaborate with physicians and other imaging staff as needed. Practice aseptic/sterile technique for all procedures. Work within the CT Tech scope of practice according to policy and procedures. Follow all general infection control measures and those specific to the CT scan department. Complete required documentation accurately immediately after completing each case. Essential Skills Registered Radiologic Technician or Registered Computerized Tomography Technician certification. ARRT registration is required. Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with CNOR, CSSM, Surgical Services, and Surgical Director roles. Experience with PACU, OR, and Pre-Op. Ability to perform CT Scan, MRI, body scanner, and X-rays. Competence in creating images of bones, organs, and tissues for accurate assessments. Work Environment The work schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. The dress code requires wearing royal blue or white scrubs. The facility houses two CT scanners and two tables, with two CT techs operating 24 hours a day in 12-hour shifts. Day and night shifts each have two CT techs per table. Patient ratios are 1:1. Equipment used includes GE, 1.5, Discovery 450, and the EMR system is Meditech. The hospital is a 229-bed Joint Commission-certified primary stroke center, known for its exceptional performance since 1983.
