Scope:

Radiology Technologist responsibilities: Produce x-ray images of specified body areas as directed by thephysician or radiologist ensuring clear and undistorted films. Position and instruct patients regarding x-ray procedures. Perform x-ray procedures using portable machines as requested bythe Emergency Department and nursing units. Process films for radiologists’ reading/interpretation followingestablished procedures. Prepare or clean patient rooms by changing linens, stockingsupplies, and wiping off tables and equipment ensuring an efficientand clean working environment. Protect patients from undue exposure to radiation by using leadshields and various safety factors. Prepare and assist in administering contrast agents by monitoringdosages and determining any potential allergies ensuring compliancewith department policies and procedures. Maintain patient information as needed by purging or updatingpatient film jackets and/or filing reports or film files to ensureaccurate patient records. Maintain imaging and processing equipment by performing scheduledcleanings and tests and documenting results. Contact servicepersonnel and notify supervision of malfunctioning equipment.

Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent, required. Successful completion of an approved radiological training programand the ability to meet the requirements for registry by theAmerican Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), required. License/certification in the state of practice is required prior tostart date. Possess a current Basic Life Support Certification, or obtaincertification within one month of employment, required.
