Responsibilities And Duties:
40% Performs Diagnostic procedures. Conducts routine radiographicstudies in diagnostics. Conducts routine and specializedfluoroscopy studies utilizing digital fluroscope equipment;Maintains proficiency in each of these areas. Provides radiationsafety for operator and patient. 40% Obtains diagnostic radiographs Places patient in proper positionsfor procedures, adhering to department policy regarding routine.
Positions anatomical part in position necessary to obtain optimumradiograph. Observes patient throughout procedure and responds toany observed change period manipulates equipment in proper manner,adjust technical factors to assure optimal images, and observesequipment safety. Critiques images inputs through only thoseoptimal for interpretation. Repeats images as necessary. 15% Prepares patients for examination Receives orders/request forprocedures from physician, nursing unit, or radiology office andmakes necessary entries in electronic medical record. Greetspatient and friendly manner and makes positive identification.
Explains procedure in clear, understandable terms. Ensures allnecessary clothing and jewelry is removed and patient is properlyattired. Starts IBS and draws up medications. 5% Performs miscellaneous related duties Assumes duties of electronicimaging technician when necessary. Processes images forinterpretation. Imports and burn CDs. Performs QC tests on X rayunit and impacts as necessary. Works with students enrolled inradiography program under program guidelines.
