JobDescription Summary:
This position prepares patients forexaminations and performs diagnostic radiology procedures followingguidelines set by OhioHealth and the American Registry ofRadiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Responsibilities And Duties:
40%Performs Diagnostic procedures. Conducts routine radiographicstudies in diagnostics. Conducts routine and specializedfluoroscopy studies utilizing digital fluroscope equipment;Maintains proficiency in each of these areas. Provides radiationsafety for operator and patient. 40% Obtains diagnostic radiographsPlaces patient in proper positions for procedures, adhering todepartment policy regarding routine. Positions anatomical part inposition necessary to obtain optimum radiograph. Observes patientthroughout procedure and responds to any observed change periodmanipulates equipment in proper manner, adjust technical factors toassure optimal images, and observes equipment safety. Critiquesimages inputs through only those optimal for interpretation.
Repeats images as necessary. 15% Prepares patients for examinationReceives orders/request for procedures from physician, nursingunit, or radiology office and makes necessary entries in electronicmedical record. Greets patient and friendly manner and makespositive identification. Explains procedure in clear,understandable terms. Ensures all necessary clothing and jewelry isremoved and patient is properly attired. Starts IBS and draws upmedications. 5% Performs miscellaneous related duties Assumesduties of electronic imaging technician when necessary. Processesimages for interpretation. Imports and burn CDs. Performs QC testson X ray unit and impacts as necessary. Works with studentsenrolled in radiography program under program guidelines.
