CT Technologist Job Summary The CT Technologistis responsible for delivering safe, direct patient care in the CTDepartment by completing provider-ordered CT procedures andassociated tasks according to established protocols. This roleinvolves collaborating with Radiologists and Medical Providers toensure accurate and high-quality imaging. EssentialResponsibilities The following duties reflect the majorresponsibilities of this role. Additional responsibilities may beassigned as needed:

  • Patient Care:

    Provide compassionate,respectful, and professional patient care.

  • CT Imaging:

    Performaccurate total body CT scans according to protocol and providerorders, consulting with Radiologists when necessary to addresscontraindications.

  • Patient Interaction:

    Explain proceduresclearly to patients, addressing questions and concerns to ensureunderstanding and satisfaction before and after the procedure.

  • Order Verification:

    Contact ordering providers to resolvediscrepancies in imaging orders to avoid delays in patient care.

  • Equipment Operation:

    Operate CT equipment, contrast powerinjectors, and positioning aids safely and effectively to completeordered procedures.

  • Documentation:

    Obtain accurate patientmedical histories, complete safety documents and consent forms, andensure alignment of CT orders with medical history and indications

  • Regulatory Compliance:

    Adhere to all radiation safety, contrastmedia, and HIPAA regulations, completing annual education andcompetency requirements.

  • Imaging Quality:

    Maintain necessaryskills to produce high-quality imaging, ensuring appropriateprocedure and supply charges for billing purposes.

Coordination:

Coordinate patient transportation and engage applicable supportpersonnel (e.g., nursing, respiratory, or physicians) to preventdelays.

  • Equipment Maintenance:

    Report equipment issues to theLead Technologist, Manager, or Director to maintain a safe workingenvironment and minimize downtime. Minimum Qualifications

  • Education:

    Graduate of an ARRT-approved Radiology program.

  • Experience:

    Registered Technologist with 1-2 years of experiencepreferred; CT certification preferred.

  • Licensure:

    ARRT (R)required. ARRT (CT) certification required within 12 months of hireor transfer. BLS certification required.

  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficiency in CT imaging andtechniques as defined by the department.
  • Strong knowledge ofmedical terminology, computer systems, and imaging protocols.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability toread, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
