Description:
Must be flexible with workhours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable,and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate careto the patient by performing all exams according to establishedprocedures. Has the knowledge and ability to properly and safelyobtain a quality diagnostic study. Responsible for performing awide variety of technical procedures requiring independentjudgment, ingenuity, and initiative in the utilization of equipmentfor the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. Able toindependently perform job functions. Sets up the equipment toprovide imaging service and positions the patient for theprocedure. Verifies proper clinician order for the procedure.
Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data, andassesses for contraindicating conditions. Follows establishedprocedures for the administration of contrast media to ensurepatient safety and comfort. Ensures that all studies have properpatient identification and markers utilized appropriately. ReviewsCT images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients.
Responds to emergency situations and provides for the restocking ofnecessary supplies and equipment. Assists other technologists inall modalities when needed. Observes patient condition andevaluates situations requiring physician intervention. Verifiescorrect identity of the patient using 2 unique identifiers prior toperforming a procedure. Ensures patient’s privacy and comfortduring exams and maintains dignity throughout procedures.
Demonstrates competence in determining and applying appropriateprocedures and techniques based on patient age. Organizes scheduleand priorities to accomplish required activities within designatedtime frames. Follows physician instructions when assisting withprocedures and exams. Demonstrates proficiency with equipmentoperation and administration techniques. Uses critical thinkingskills to assess and address patient needs. Communicates clearlywith patients and their families to minimize anxiety and facilitatecooperation. Ensures patients’ questions or concerns are addressed,notifying a physician when necessary. Participates in theorientation and training of departmental employees. Providespatients with preparatory instruction and explanations forprocedures. Maintains accurate and legible documentation. Readsdaily emails and follows through on assignments as needed.
Completes mandatory education without prompting. Consistentlyproduces acceptable images as evidenced by feedback and qualityaudits. Ensures equipment is operational prior to use by checkingfor proper calibration. Sends all studies to the necessary systemsimmediately after completion. Completes all required documentationin clinical management systems. Restocks linens and supplies,maintaining cleanliness in the department. Transports and positionspatients as necessary. Handles patient charging activities on theday services are rendered. Applies shielding, supportive, andimmobilization devices appropriately. Acts as a resource to othersupon request. Performs routine duties of support personnel asneeded to ensure continuity of services. Keeps supervisor informedof all responsibilities and any potential problems. Maintains anindividual productivity rate comparable to co-workers. Exhibits theability to operate all workstations associated with the department.
Maintains compliance with all applicable standards and regulations.
Takes call when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all organizational policies, standards of work, andcode of conduct.
