Assist technologists and/or nurses with patient throughput, transporting patients, performs patient advocate functions, and assists with supply and room stocking activities. May perform Front Office tasks, registration, scheduling, answering phones, and insurance eligibility checks.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
1. Transportation of patients; Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs a. Meets service recovery and customer service guidelines as needed b. Utilizes the EMR transport module and timely enters applicable information. c. Transports patients, along with necessary items (IV poles, O2 tanks, etc.). d. Informs technologists of potential patient safety issues; fall risk precautions, infection control precautions and standard precautions. e. Maintains standard precautions in all patient interactions f. Assists in getting patients on and off the stretchers or beds as required g. Assists with observation of patients while in the department h. Performs patient advocate role for patients while in the department i. Introduces self to patient and/or family upon entering room j. Identifies patient using 2 identifiers k. Explains where patient is going when transporting between departments l. Performs appropriate hand-offs per protocol m. Ensures confidentiality of patient information to remain compliant with HIPPA guidelines n. Can verbalize their role in response to WellStar Emergency Plans 2. Provides for room turnover activities to facilitate patient throughput a. Helps maintain exam rooms with supplies and linens b. Inventories paper forms and orders as needed c. Follows procedure for transporting and disposing of dirty equipment. d. Assists with other duties as assigned e. Stocks rooms and rotates stock to avoid expiration of supplies 3. Cleaning and maintenance a. Cleans/dusts equipment, utilizing appropriate disinfecting agent b. Ensures that supply room and dirty utility rooms are appropriately maintained c. Ensures logs are properly filled out and completed daily. d. Answers telephone with appropriate scripting e. Completes required paperwork per policy. f. Maintains cleanliness of all equipment and work area g. Changes linens on beds for all patients while in the procedure room 4. Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. a. Knows the existing lines of communication and authority, handles communications properly and is dependable, cooperative and emotionally stable. b. Assists Therapists, Front Office, nursing and other staff in any other way required as appropriate. c. Meets service recovery and customer service guidelines as needed. d. Performs other duties as assigned e. Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education:
High school diploma Required Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Required Additional License(s) and Certification(s): Must obtain medical terminology training within twelve (12) months within 180
Days Preferred Required Minimum Experience:
Less than 1 year Clinical experience in a healthcare setting. Medical Imaging experience preferred.
