Job Summary Under the direction of a Radiologist and Supervisor, performs diagnostic and invasive procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Must understand sterile technique and have a working knowledge of cardiac monitoring. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment. Assists with the care of critically ill patients. Assumes responsibility for designated areas of procedures required. The scope of care includes age groups ranging from newborn to elderly. Minimum Job Qualifications Licensure or other certifications: Current ARRT.

High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of accredited ARRT Program.

Job Specific and Unique Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Good assessment skills, critical care skills, Maintains BCLS certification Basic computer skills Ability to work independently and effectively with others Essential Tasks and Responsibilities Operate all interventional equipment and supplies according to equipment specifications (i.e. crash carts, ultrasound machine, injector, patient monitoring equipment, back-up specials room). Maintain proficiency in all technical duties (i.e. scrub, film, and circulator), including up-to-date knowledge of new procedures/techniques in Interventional Radiology and in Diagnostic Radiology (ER, OR and General Diagnostic). Produce quality radiographs consistently within department standards. Follow good radiation safety practices, i.e. coning, shielding, film badge monitoring, according to state and federal guidelines. Maintain patient records according the department standards. Ability to maintain processors, diagnose processing problems and take appropriate action. Properly assess patient according to exam ordered with appropriate documentation (i.e. check order, review previous films, check lab values when indicated, prep, screen for possible pregnancy, appropriate history). Provide patient education pertinent to exam being performed and document in patient record. Document and charge correct procedures and additional supply charges as appropriate. Request charge/coding for new procedure and supplies to assure all procedures are charged appropriately in a timely manner. Compliance in accurately and completely utilizing RIS according to department standards (i.e., order, arrive, start, complete, cancel, record complications, fluoro time, drug history, repeats, complaints and transfers), and CPAC procedures when indicated. Performs other duties as assigned, including: non-technical duties as assigned (i.e., stock rooms, transport patients, clean cassettes), training of new staff and students, special projects and other duties.
