JobSummaryUnder the direction of a Radiologist and Supervisor,performs CT and X-ray procedures at a technical level not requiringconstant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety oftechnical procedures that require independent judgement withingenuity and initiative to apply ionizing radiation for CT andX-ray diagnosis. Use of contrast agents and knowledge of propertechnique for certain invasive procedures. Assumes responsibilityfor designated areas of procedures required. The scope of careincludes age groups ranging from newborn to elderly.

Adheres to infectioncontrol and safety practices. Follows good radiation safetypractices; i.e. coning, shielding, film badge monitoring, accordingto state and federal guidelines. Produce quality imagesconsistently within established protocols. Maintains processors,diagnosis processing problems and takes appropriate action.
Maintains patient records according to department procedure.
Knowledge of appropriate use of contrast media (venipuncture,injector, consent forms, type, quantity, complications). Properlyassess patient according to exam ordered with appropriatedocumentation (i.e. check order, review previous films, check labvalues when indicated, prep, screen for possible pregnancy,appropriate history, coordinate with Imaging nurse as appropriate).Provide patient education pertinent to exam being performed anddocument in patient record. Compliance in accurately and completelyutilizing RIS according to department standards (i.e., order,arrive, start, complete, cancel, record complications, IVinfiltrate documentation, drug history, repeats, complaints andtransfers), CPAC procedures when indicated. Meets productivitystandards defined by the department. Maintains a clean andorganized work space.
Attends department meetings; Participates intraining of new staff and students.
