TheRegistered MRI Technologist is a clinical mentor for junior staffand students. Education Required

  • Clinical MRI experience Certifications Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association;
ARRT, ARMRIT OR CAMRT

registered as an MR technologist, OR ARRTregistered or unlimited state license, and 6 months supervised MRIclinical scanning experience, OR Associate degree or bachelordegree in allied health field, and Certification in anotherclinical imaging field (such as ARDMS or NMTCB), and 6 monthssupervised MRI clinical scanning experience Advanced certificationin MRI required by an organization recognized by the ACR Registryrequired within two years of employment Preferred

  • Advancedcertification in MRI required by an organization recognized by theACR Registry Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Must havecomputer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrievalof information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skillsand the ability to present information clearly and professionally
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, varioussoftware packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Stronginterpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of MRI procedures and technicallanguage.
  • Ability to work with and maintain strictconfidentiality.
  • Ability to work efficiently and calmly underpressure.
  • Ability to work self-directed and to function withoutdirect supervision.
  • Ability and willingness to have and maintainflexibility in work duties and hours (may require flexible schedulesuch as nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, extended shifts,etc.).
  • General knowledge of cardiac anatomy, Doppler physics, andthe hemodynamics of blood flow in relation to the various diseasestates.
  • Skills to preliminary identify stenosis or occlusionbased on nationally published criteria.
  • Skills to assistattending physicians with interventional procedures requiringultrasonic guidance.
  • Ability to provide care and/or supportservices in a manner consistent with the patient’s age, social,spiritual, and cultural needs and other special consideration. JobDuties
  • Verifies physician order and procedure to assure accuracy
  • Utilizes radiology information systems to facilitate care.
  • Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
  • Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedureaccording to protocol (including placement of IV).
  • Reviewspatient images prior to transmission to ensure images meetdiagnostic quality standards.
  • Completes timely quality controlprocedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performingnotification/remediation as warranted.
  • Assists in thefacilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staffschedules, equipment maintenance, etc.).
  • Adapts behavior to thespecific patient population, including but not limited to: respectfor privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adaptingexplanation of services or procedures to be performed, requestingpermissions and communication style.

The constant stress and strain ofmaintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrialsetting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even thoughthe amount of force exerted is negligible. Mechanical liftingdevices (carts, dollies, etc.) or team lifts should be utilized.

Must be able to stoop, bend, reach and grab with arms and hands,manual dexterity. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods oftime. Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities.

Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluidand tissue. The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in anarea where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/orworks with specimens that could contain communicable diseases.

There may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicablediseases. Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting,there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardousmedications or hazardous waste within the environment throughreceipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing,administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
