Videos Duties This Lead Diagnostic Radiologic Technician position is in Diagnostic Imaging services the VA Boston Healthcare System, West Roxbury, MA campus. This position is a full-time 40 hours per week. The Lead Technologist coordines routine technical operion of the Diagnostic section of Radiology. Lead a group of DRTs who staff the following areas: Cardiac Cheterizion, Electrophysiology Lab, Urology, Gastrointestinal Fluoroscopy, Endoscopy, Opering Room, Emergency and Main department X-ray as well as remote X-ray sites. The Lead also oversees students performing their clinical rotions. Duties include but not limited to: Help establish and implement protocols required to perform procedures in all modalities done in the radiology department. The incumbent must be proficient in the VA’s entire computer systems and scheduling plforms. The incumbent able to train new technologists and radiology MSAs. Help coordine administrion of contrast merial for radiology exams performed under the direction of the radiologist according to protocols. Provide oriention and training to employees in all sections of the radiology department. Coordine vacion coverage, on call coverage, intermittent technologist coverage, as well as break/lunch schedules for the section, assuringadeque staffing is available so th pient care is not compromised. Ensures th unit pients are called to the imaging department in a timely manner, and th all inpient requisitions are completed within 24 hours. Continuously monitor and improve procedures in the radiology department. Coordining quality improvement activities within the imaging section. Recommends area for review and improvement. Collects da and submits in final form to the supervisor. Practice hospital safety, radiion safety, infection control and universal precautions always within age and/or gender specific guidelines. Manage the scheduling of Intermittent technologists to ensure departments are appropriely staffed. Ability to resolve informal employee complaints and demonstre effective conflict resolution amongst co-workers. Runs daily general radiology pending, past scheduled and hold list, ensuring th orders are handled appropriely. Performs daily tier one huddles in the department and through teams to address safety concerns, equipment issues and informional updes. Attends weekly supervisor/lead huddles, bringing any pertinent topics for discussion. Responsible for timecards. Ensuring th time requests and premium pay requests are submitted in a timely manner. Updes sharepoint schedule for inpient and outpient fluoroscopy exams, including speech phology studies. Routinely enters work orders and leaf requests to engineering and HTM. Maintaining equipment functionality and a safe workplace. Responsible for logging equipment issues into the QC folder and updes once issues are resolved. Works with the PACS admins to correct missing or imaging errors. Review and address problem case log. Maintains the lead shield dabase, ensuring th all lead items are compliant, and the dabase is up to de and posted on the S drive. Provides pient care, able to transfer pients to radiographic table and able to prepare oral and injectable contrast as needed. Orients radiography students, constructs training schedules and works closely with students to provide honest feedback and reviews. Maintains students’ paperwork, entering competencies and evaluions into trajecsys. Works with the logistics department regarding the ordering of radiology supplies. Ability to resolve informal employee complaints and demonstre effective conflict resolution amongst co-workers.

Educion:
Completion of a full-time training course of least 24 months in durion (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certifice or associe degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educion in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from (other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Educion(DOE)).
Certificion:
All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT)(R). Advanced ARRT certificion is required for assignments th include Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), [or Mammograph (M) duties performed independently and has demonstred specific clinical competency in the approprie specialty and taken and passed the designed examinion. English Language Proficiency. RTs/RRTs appointed to direct pient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f). May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfhering Provision as described in the VA Qualificion Standard for this occupion (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupion and meet the criteria).

Experience:
At least one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-09 directly reled to the position being filled th demonstres the clinical competencies described th level. The incumbent functions as a lead DRT for a group of DRTs the GS-9 level and below. The incumbent provides a full range of general radiologic imaging exams, has a broad knowledge of the different modalities within the diagnostic radiologic area, and is accountable to the next higher-level supervisor.
Demonstred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
In addition to the experience above, the candide must demonstre all of the following: Ability to provide feedback to supervisor on technical aspects of work. •Ability to resolve informal employee complaints. •Ability to monitor and report on the stus and progress of work and make adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established procedures.
