Position Summary:
T he Lead CT Technologist monitors the daily activities of the CT section of Imaging. Performs radiographic and CT studies. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients for this service, usually adult to elderly. Completes specific and annual competencies as it applies to CT and participates in CQI activities .
Essential Duties:
1. Monitors the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, and burns. 2. In accordance with the Radiologist and Chief Radiologist, he/she determines the most suitable anatomical posture and position protocols that ensure expected diagnostic results and patient safety. 3. Assesses patient pain interfering with imaging procedure – makes appropriate physician contact for intervention. 4. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. 5. Practices medical aseptic procedures. 6. Ensures that all the work is complete and that the staff functions efficiently. 7. Monitors and evaluates all quality control checks. 8. Ensures accurate QC logs, service records, etc. 9. Maintains the highest quality of imaging consistent with prescribed examination; documents and deviation. 10. Interacts professionally with patient, family and staff. Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement initiatives. 11. Coordinates staff education. 12. Supervises the proper use of all equipment consistent with proper protocols. 13. Monitors the care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population. 14. Establishes and maintains the standards of performance. 15. Trains all Section staff in the overall operation and orientation in CT. 16. Attends and participates with hospital committees as appropriate. 17. Ensures preventative maintenance/repair of CT equipment; communicates completion, or deviation with Regional Manager. 18. Promotes effective intra and interdepartmental relationships. 19. Assists in formulating strategies for market growth. 20. Ensures knowledge of hospital policies. 21.

Education and experience:
High school graduate; BS or MS degree preferred. Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology. Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) in radiography. Certified in CT through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Certified in the State of Maine to practice and administer radiation. Five-year radiology experience preferred. Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required within one month of expiration. Thorough understanding of anatomy, positioning.
