Overview:

The Radiologic Technologist performs medical examsusing X-rays or other diagnostic imaging examinations on patientsto create images of specific parts of the body. The images are theninterpreted by a doctor for diagnosis and monitoring of disease.

Working under direct supervision, this position prepares patientsfor the exams, moves patients to the correct position, operates theequipment, and uses their knowledge and skill to minimize theradiation dose to the patient.

Responsibilities:

Followsinstructions from physicians regarding which area of the patient?sbody needs imaging. Talks the patient through the procedure andanswer questions to lower their anxiety and increase theirunderstanding of the procedure. Positions the patient correctly andadjusts the imaging equipment to the specified position to createquality images of specific parts of the body. Prevents unnecessaryradiation exposure both to themselves and to the patient. Followscorrect techniques and procedures such as patient shielding toensure adherence to ensure accurate and reliable diagnostic imagingservices. Completes required documentation for each procedure toensure proper patient records and facilitate seamless communicationamong healthcare providers. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION

Required:

High School Diploma orequivalent; Graduate of a Radiology, Imaging or related educationalprogram
