Overview:

The Radiologic Technologist Weekend Option performsmedical exams using X-rays or other diagnostic imaging examinationson patients to create images of specific parts of the body. Theimages are then interpreted by a doctor for diagnosis andmonitoring of disease. Working under direct supervision, thisposition prepares patients for the exams, moves patients to thecorrect position, operates the equipment, and uses their knowledgeand skill to minimize the radiation dose to the patient. This rolehas a weekend option, in which the staff member is required tocommit to WEO requirements and work two shifts within the WEOwindow for a premium rate.

Responsibilities:

Follows instructionsfrom physicians regarding which area of the patient?s body needsimaging. Talks the patient through the procedure and answerquestions to lower their anxiety and increase their understandingof the procedure. Positions the patient correctly and adjusts theimaging equipment to the specified position to create qualityimages of specific parts of the body. Prevents unnecessaryradiation exposure both to themselves and to the patient. Followscorrect techniques and procedures such as patient shielding toensure adherence to ensure accurate and reliable diagnostic imagingservices. Completes required documentation for each procedure toensure proper patient records and facilitate seamless communicationamong healthcare providers. Performs other duties as assigned.
