Technologist/n Position Title:

CT Technologist (CT Tech) /n

JobSummary:

The CT Technologist is responsible for performinghigh-quality computed tomography (CT) scans on patients, providingvital diagnostic information to physicians. The CT Tech worksclosely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals toensure that patients receive accurate, timely, and safe imagingservices. They operate CT equipment, prepare patients forprocedures, and ensure proper documentation while maintainingpatient care and safety standards. /n

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Preparation and Care:

/n /n

  • Greet and assesspatients to determine the appropriate CT scan procedure based ontheir medical history and physician’s orders. /n
  • Explain the CTprocedure to patients, addressing any questions or concerns toensure comfort and cooperation. /n
  • Position patients properly toensure accurate imaging while ensuring their comfort and safety. /n
  • Monitor patient condition during the scan, ensuring they remainstill and follow instructions.

CT Scanning andEquipment Operation:

/n /n

  • Operate CT machines to capturehigh-quality diagnostic images. /n
  • Adjust settings on the CTscanner as needed to obtain the best image quality for the specificprocedure. /n
  • Administer contrast agents as required for certainimaging exams, ensuring patient safety and proper protocols arefollowed. /n
  • Maintain and troubleshoot CT equipment to ensure itis functioning correctly and perform quality control checks.

Medical Team:

/n /n

  • Work closely withradiologists and physicians to ensure proper image quality and toprovide any additional scans or follow-up imaging as requested. /n
  • Communicate effectively with the healthcare team regardingpatient conditions, test results, and any issues encountered duringthe scanning process. /n
  • Assist in guiding the patient throughthe process and providing post-scan instructions, includingfollow-up care or next steps if necessary.

Documentation and Record-Keeping:

/n /n

  • Ensure accurate patientinformation is recorded in the system, including medical history,imaging results, and procedure notes. /n
  • Complete imagingrequisitions and maintain electronic health records (EHR) incompliance with hospital policies and regulations. /n
  • Track andlog contrast usage, patient allergies, and any adverse reactions.

Safety and Infection Control:

/n /n

  • Followradiation safety protocols and minimize exposure to both patientsand staff. /n
  • Use appropriate protective equipment, such as leadaprons, when necessary. /n
  • Adhere to infection control practicesand maintain a clean and sterile environment in the CT room. /n
  • Ensure that all safety checks, such as equipment calibration andcontrast administration, are followed to prevent adverse events.

Patient Education and Support:

  • Provideinstructions to patients on what to expect before, during, andafter the CT scan. /n
  • Address any patient anxiety or concerns,providing reassurance and ensuring their comfort throughout theprocess. /n
  • Explain the importance of the CT procedure andfollow-up actions, as needed.

Maintenance andQuality Control:

  • Perform regular maintenance checks on CTequipment, reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel forrepairs or adjustments. /n
  • Adhere to protocols for ensuring thequality of images meets the required standards. /n
  • Participate incontinuing education and training to stay current with new imagingtechnologies, techniques, and safety practices.

Qualifications:

/n /n

  • Education:

    /n /n

  • Associate’s degree inRadiologic Technology or a related field. /n
  • Completion of aformal CT training program is preferred. /n /n /n
  • Licensure andCertification:

    /n /n

  • Current certification in RadiologicTechnology (ARRT) or equivalent. /n
  • Certification in CT (ARRT-CT)preferred or required within a specified period after hire. /n
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. /n /n /n
  • Experience:

    /n /n

  • Previous experience as a CT Technologist ispreferred, but new graduates with clinical training may also beconsidered. /n /n /n
  • Skills:

    /n /n

  • Knowledge of CT scanningtechniques, equipment, and radiation safety protocols. /n
  • Strongattention to detail and ability to produce high-quality images. /n
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact withpatients, healthcare professionals, and team members. /n
  • Abilityto handle patients with various needs and conditions in a calm andprofessional manner.
