RequiredQualifications:
- One year’s recent experience as an InterventionalRadiology Technologist
- Valid ARRT, or
RCIS/RCES
Certification incompliance with state regulations
- Current BLS certification(AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current ACLS certification
- Valid Radiologic Technologist license in compliance within stateregulations
- PALS or ENPC certification
- Other certifications orlicenses may be required for this position
Summary:
TheInterventional Radiology (IR) Technologist assists physicians inperforming minimally invasive procedures using advanced imagingtechnology. This role involves preparing patients and equipment,operating fluoroscopic and other imaging modalities, and ensuringthe highest standards of patient care and safety. The IRTechnologist works closely with the interventional radiologist andhealthcare team to support complex vascular and non-vascularprocedures in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Essential WorkFunctions:
- Prepare and position patients for interventionalradiology procedures, ensuring comfort and safety
- Operate imagingequipment, including fluoroscopy, CT, and ultrasound, to guideprocedures
- Assist physicians by scrubbing in for sterileprocedures, passing instruments, and maintaining a sterile field
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and procedural details
- Administer contrast media and monitoring for adverse reactions
- Ensure proper radiation safety measures for patients, staff, andself
- Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment, ensuringreadiness for procedures
- Manage and restock procedural supplies,including catheters, guidewires, and contrast agents
- Collaboratewith radiologists, nurses, and other team members to provideseamless patient care
- Follow all infection control, safety, andregulatory protocols
- Provide patient education before, during,and after procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned to supportIR lab operations
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infectioncontrol guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required EssentialSkills:
- Critical thinking, service excellence and goodinterpersonal communication skills
- The ability to read, write, &communicate in the English language is required
- Ability toread/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions,and proficiency in PC skills
- Physical Abilities
- Remain in astationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs),pushing, pulling, bending
- Interpersonal Skills
- To workeffectively with a variety of personnel (professional andancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
- Technical/Motor Skills
- Ability to grasp, fine manipulation,pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting withprocedures and/or using department equipment.
- Mental Requirements
- Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the generalpublic, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure. Must beable to work under close supervision occasionally as well asworking without assistance from other personnel. Must be able tocontend with irregular activity schedules occasionally andcontinuous concentration to detail
