Job Summary:

The CT Technologist is responsible forperforming high-quality computed tomography (CT) scans on patients,providing vital diagnostic information to physicians. The CT Techworks closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionalsto ensure that patients receive accurate, timely, and safe imagingservices. They operate CT equipment, prepare patients forprocedures, and ensure proper documentation while maintainingpatient care and safety standards.n

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Preparation and Care:

n n Greet and assess patients to determine the appropriate CT scanprocedure based on their medical history and physician’sorders.n Explain the CT procedure to patients, addressing any questionsor concerns to ensure comfort and cooperation.n Position patients properly to ensure accurate imaging whileensuring their comfort and safety.n Monitor patient condition during the scan, ensuring they remainstill and follow instructions.nnn n

CT Scanning and Equipment Operation:

n n Operate CT machines to capture high-quality diagnosticimages.n Adjust settings on the CT scanner as needed to obtain the bestimage quality for the specific procedure.n Administer contrast agents as required for certain imagingexams, ensuring patient safety and proper protocols arefollowed.n Maintain and troubleshoot CT equipment to ensure it isfunctioning correctly and perform quality controlchecks.nnn nCollaboration with

Medical Team:

n n Work closely with radiologists and physicians to ensure properimage quality and to provide any additional scans or follow-upimaging as requested.n Communicate effectively with the healthcare team regardingpatient conditions, test results, and any issues encountered duringthe scanning process.n Assist in guiding the patient through the process and providingpost-scan instructions, including follow-up care or next steps ifnecessary.nnn n

Documentation and Record-Keeping:

n n Ensure accurate patient information is recorded in the system,including medical history, imaging results, and procedurenotes.n Complete imaging requisitions and maintain electronic healthrecords (EHR) in compliance with hospital policies andregulations.n Track and log contrast usage, patient allergies, and anyadverse reactions.nnn n

Safety and Infection Control:

n n Follow radiation safety protocols and minimize exposure to bothpatients and staff.n Use appropriate protective equipment, such as lead aprons, whennecessary.n Adhere to infection control practices and maintain a clean andsterile environment in the CT room.n Ensure that all safety checks, such as equipment calibrationand contrast administration, are followed to prevent adverseevents.nnn n

Patient Education and Support:

n n Provide instructions to patients on what to expect before,during, and after the CT scan.n Address any patient anxiety or concerns, providing reassuranceand ensuring their comfort throughout the process.n Explain the importance of the CT procedure and follow-upactions, as needed.nnn n

Maintenance and Quality Control:

n n Perform regular maintenance checks on CT equipment, reportingany issues to the appropriate personnel for repairs oradjustments.n Adhere to protocols for ensuring the quality of images meetsthe required standards.n Participate in continuing education and training to staycurrent with new imaging technologies, techniques, and safetypractices.nnnn

Qualifications:

Education:

n n Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology or a relatedfield.n Completion of a formal CT training program ispreferred.nnn

Licensure and Certification:

n n Current certification in Radiologic Technology (ARRT) orequivalent.n Certification in CT (ARRT-CT) preferred or required within aspecified period after hire.n Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationrequired.nnn

Experience:

n n Previous experience as a CT Technologist is preferred, but newgraduates with clinical training may also be considered.nnn

Skills:

n n Knowledge of CT scanning techniques, equipment, and radiationsafety protocols.n Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-qualityimages.n Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interactwith patients, healthcare professionals, and team members.n Ability to handle patients with various needs and conditions ina calm and professional manner.nnnWellspring Nurse Source Job ID#31679483.
