JOBSUMMARY

We are seeking a PRN Radiologic Technologist for DukeOrthopaedics of Raleigh located in Raleigh to be responsible foroperating X-ray and fluoroscopic equipment that assistsradiologists and/or Orthopaedic physicians with diagnosing and/ortreating disease and/or injury. The schedule for this position isMonday-Friday 7:30-4:30PM for vacacation coverage and call-outs, noweekends or holidays, as needed.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepares patients for radiologic procedures.

Protects patient,self, and other staff from radiation hazards. Takes X-raysfollowing established procedures for patient care and safety, whichinvolves setting up and operating radiographic equipment used inthe medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients and includesimplementing infection control procedures for the work area.

Selects proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis.

Adjusts/sets radiographic controls. Positions patients and takesX-rays of specific parts of the patient’s body as requested byphysicians. Processes film. Checks X-rays for clarity of image,retaking when needed. Distributes X-rays to appropriate medicalstaff.

  • Maintains required records including patient records,daily log books, and monthly reports. Performs quantity and qualitycontrol checks to assure X-ray unit meets standards required bylaws, rules, and departmental policies. Complies with safetystandards.
  • Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments toradiographic equipment, including determining equipment repairs.
  • Maintains radiographic supplies, film, and orders as necessary.
JOBELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • Completion of an AMA approved School ofRadiology Technology
  • Must obtain ARRT certification within oneyear of employment
  • BLS certification
  • 1 year of experience in anorthopaedic environment preferred
