Work Schedule:

PRN, with a minimum offour (4) shifts per month, multiple shifts available DukeUniversity Health System seeks to hire an experienced ComputerizedTomography (CT) Technologist who will embrace our mission ofAdvancing Health Together. The Duke Raleigh Hospital (DRAH) campusprovides a patient-friendly setting no matter where you visit us inour hospital’s North Pavilion, South Pavilion, or clinics. DukeRaleigh also maintains laboratory and imaging services, a painclinic, 24/7 emergency care, community outreach, and educationprograms. This position will primarily serve a combination of ourinpatient and outpatient populations with a focus in the EmergencyDepartment and some invasive procedures.

What you will do:
  • Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation ofCT scanners, power injectors, and related equipment in accordancewith prescribed radiation safety procedures.
  • Position patientsfor CT scans using patient positioning devices and protectiveequipment as necessary.
  • Perform exams accurately per establishedprotocols, policy, and patient safety standards.
  • Assistradiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV’s, and injectingcontrast, if applicable.
  • Assist radiologist with interventionalCT procedures.
  • Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collateprocessed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label.

Film/transmit to Image Archival System.

  • Schedule patients forprocedures; assist with clerical functions.
  • Charge procedures andsupplies in EHR.
  • Dispense and or order oral contrast to patientsfor CT scans.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Provideorientation and training to new CT technologists.
  • Provide carefor the psychological and physical needs of patients and theirfamilies for CT scans.
  • Provide education and training to studenttechnologists.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to thework therein.
  • Coordinate scheduling and patient flow
  • Demonstrate proficiency in IV placement for contrastadministration.
  • Demonstrate proficiency and accuracy inperformance of all exam protocols.
  • Assist with the education andtraining of new physicians (interns, residents, fellows, andattending’s). If applicable.
  • Assist radiologists and PhD’s indeveloping new protocols and CT imaging techniques that are uniqueto facility.
  • Perform CT specific technical assistance withprojects assigned by supervisor including but not limited to: Teamlead, R & D, protocol development, charge reconciliation anddemonstration of equipment.

Required Qualifications:
Education:

Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibilityrequirements for registry/certification or currently holds requiredregistry or certification. Degrees, Licensure, and/or CertificationCertification in one the following required: Radiography (R),Radiation Therapy (T), Nuclear Medicine Technology (N), CNMT. ARRTregistered in Computed Tomography (CT) required within 18 months ofemployment.
