The The Radiology Technologist/Clinical Assistant will provide diagnostic quality radiographs for physicians and/or physician assistants while protecting employees and patients from unnecessary radiation and usage of appropriate protection standards. Responsible for providing and coordinating orthopedic patient care which includes performing routine office procedures and testing, participating in patient teaching, completing triage which includes the delivery, management and coordination of telephone live calls and Voice Mail; Tasks; Fax etc. Communicating effectively with others and assisting the physician/mid-level provider in the delivery of patient care.
Essential Functions:
Demonstrates competency in positioning of all radiological procedures as prescribed by departmental policy. Communicates with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, confirm acknowledgment of patients’ understanding and address any questions or concerns. Positions patients and selects exposure factors for various radiologic examinations and provides patient with radiation protection and safety in accordance with prescribed methods. Cleans and makes minor adjustments to radiology equipment and ensures equipment is in working order and reports equipment malfunctions to Radiology Manager or designee. Prepares copies of x-ray films/CD’s for patients, tests, surgery and physicians as required. Logs radiological procedures completed, processes charges and related paperwork using computer equipment as directed. Maintains cleanliness of examination rooms and stocks necessary medical and/or radiological supplies in the department. Compliance with all OrthoCarolina policy and procedures. Assists with the transportation of patients between the examination module(s) and the Radiology department. Assist with patient flow in the examination module(s) as directed by a supervisor. Updating clinical notes in electronic medical systems Completing phone triage Casting and bracing Performing routine office procedures Providing patient education
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to operate various manufacturer types of Radiology suite equipment, (i.e. Siemens/GE/Philips). Skill in proficient use of various manufacturer types of Digital Radiology (DR) and Computer Radiology (CR) reader systems. Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor. Skill in positioning patients properly and performing quality diagnostic radiographs. Observes safety and security procedures.
Qualifications:
Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the American Medical Association. Preferred one year experience as an x-ray tech with an orthopedic background.
Professional license or certification requirements:
Registered Radiology Tech by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART) or ARRT registry eligible. Current CPR certification recommended.
