- 5:00 PM. 8 hours x 5 TheMammography Technologist is responsible for performing mammographyexaminations following ACR requirements.
- This position assistswith breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, breast localizationand other radiologic guided procedures performed within the BreastCenter.
- Performs diagnostic and screening mammographicexaminations on adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients in anexpedient and professional manner.
- Performs mammographic imagingfor breast needle localization procedures and stereotacticprocedures inclusive of set up and clean up.
- Assists in proceduresusing ultrasound guidance.
- Provides immobilization devices, selectproper technical factors based on individual patient needs andselects and operates equipment for specific procedures.
- Identifiespatient’s films with the correct name, x-ray number, and correctlymarks film as to side of the patient and initials all films
- Develops exposed x-ray film by using processing methods
- Completes patient requisitions with technologist’s initials, datenumber, and size of films.
- Assists with quality control proceduresand documenting of: phantom image, darkroom fog test, screen-filmcontact test, repeat analysis, fixer retention analysis, screencleanliness, compression test, visual machine checks, processorquality control, view box and reviewing conditions and darkroomcleanliness, as delegated by Chief Mammography Technologist
- Assists in BSE instruction and other patient education to includepre and post procedure instructions.
- Prepares cases to be imagedincluding chart and films.
- Assists with compiling statistics for:patient follow-ups, tracking of breast localizations, patientneeding biopsies, and ultrasound examinations, follow-up onpositive biopsy reports.
- Documents procedures regarding qualitycontrol and quality assurance for mammography in compliance with
ACR, MQSA, NJ
State and FDA.
- Documents in the Breast Center chartany pertinent information regarding patients.
- Identifies the needsof the patient population served and modifies and delivers carethat is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language,hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.).
- This process includescommunicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s)at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.)
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMHOrganizational competencies and standards of behavior.
RequiredSkills & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years prior experience as aLicensed Mammography Technologist.
