Description:
The Radiologic TechnologistI is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographicexaminations. The role requires a technical level not requiringconstant supervision. Produces diagnostic radiographic examinationsby positioning patients. Provides immobilization devices andselects proper technical factors based on individual patient needs.
Selects and operates equipment as required for specific procedures.
Restricts radiation beams through cone and collimating devices toprevent non-exposure of radiation to unaffected parts of thepatient. Performs portable x-ray examinations in patient rooms,operating rooms, and emergency rooms. Follows operationalprocedures to identify patient films with appropriate markings.
Develops exposed x-ray film using available processing methods.
Completes patient requisitions with necessary details. Maintains anorderly x-ray room as directed by department leadership. Preparesradiopaque contrast media and assists physicians in administeringthese mixtures to patients. Performs administrative duties relatedto scheduling appointments, patient instruction, film filing, andmaintaining records. Provides assistance to all patients in moving,turning, and positioning. Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes andpulls a minimum of 10 lbs., and stands for at least 6 hours a day.
Identifies and modifies care based on the specific needs of thepatient population served. Communicates effectively with patients,parents, and caregivers at an appropriate level. Adheres to thestandards identified in the organization’s competencies.
