Short DescriptionAssists physicians in all procedures within scope of InterventionalRadiology and Vascular/Cardiac surgery to include, but not limitedto, vascular, cardiac/cardiology, trauma surgeries. Duties toinclude but not limited to:

  • Assisting with pre and post procedurepatient assessment, patient teaching, assisting with patient carewithin scope of practice, inventory management (inventory, receive,organize, restock of products).
  • Assist physician in endovascularand Cardiac/Cardiology procedures to include but not limited tosetting up sterile field, positioning and prepping, circulating andscrubbing to assist with handling of instruments, operating andmonitoring of equipment, passage of catheters and guidewires.
  • Operate fluoroscope equipment, laser, and other equipmentassociated with interventional vascular and cardiac procedures.

Practices radiation safety in accordance of regulations.

  • Prepareradiopaque materials for administration by physician. Draw upcontrast for injections.
  • Completes records accurately, includesprocedure documentation, billing, supplies, radiation exposure.
  • Assist in patient positioning and patient transfers.
  • Assist inchecking of daily controls for all equipment utilized in routinecare of patient; ensure medical equipment is in working order andall supplies are available.
  • Assist in training and acts as apreceptor of new technologists, physicians, nurses, students. Serveas a role model.
  • Cover off-shift call requirements based on unitneeds. Float to other areas within institution to support staffingneeds of other departments within scope of practice. ExperienceRequired
  • 3-5 years of vascular experience preferred. EducationRequirements
  • H.S. Diploma required; associate degree preferred.
  • Certificate of Completion/Degree from accredited Radiology Programor Vascular Program. License/Certification Requirements
  • Graduateof AMA approved Radiology Technologist Program, NJ DEP licenserequired upon hire Special Requirements
