Job Summary:
  • The CTtechnologist will demonstrate professionalism and serviceexcellence when performing the following tasks.
  • Obtains necessarymedical, surgical and radiological supplies for specific proceduresaccording to established protocols.
  • Maintains sterility of fieldand instruments.
  • Correctly prepares requisitions.
  • Communicates tothe patient and family before, during and after the procedure toalleviate anxiety while maintaining privacy and dignity of thepatient.
  • The technologist will adhere to all HIPAA regulations andrespect the patients privacy.
  • Verifies patient identificationaccording to the AHS policy.
  • Observes patient’s condition beforeand after contrast injections and reports any sudden change to thenursing staff and Radiologist.
  • Ensures availability of medicalsrecords, previous reports, labs and history of patient.
  • Can beginemergency response in case of complication.
  • Maintains adequatelinen supplies in each scanning room.
  • Maintains adequate contrastmedia and biopsy/drainage supplies in each scanning room.
  • Adheresto room assignments (CT 1,2 and 3).
  • Assists in maintaining CTstoreroom, outside inventory.
  • Participates in daily inventory andstocking of supplies.
  • Notifies Lead of expired or soon to expireequipment or medications.
  • Cleans and inventories supplies
  • Participates in the routine cleaning of the CT gantry, table andperipheral equipment after each use.
  • The point staff will performthe following tasks while displaying involvement in patient care,professionalism and respect to other staff and patients: Whenassigned as Point, triages procedures accordingly to the dailyschedule Ensures timely coordination of all emergency andunscheduled procedure requests.
  • Assigns staff to ensure efficientworkflow while maintaining an environment of patient safety
  • Maintains workflow w thin the section to coordinate emergent andunscheduled procedure requests within the schedule.
  • Communicateswith all departments and floors with regards to patient status
  • Ensures immediate patient transport post procedure.
  • Assists inperforming routine procedures.
  • Assesses patient ability totolerate contrast.
  • Screens for allergies/medicationincompatibilities.
  • Cleans CT Unit and room after each use
  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of working area.
  • NotifiesCoordinator or Lead of equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintains QA/QCrequirements for daily, monthly & ACR specifications.
  • Recognizesunusual conditions in the operation of equipment.
  • Alertsappropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions.
  • Adheres tovenipuncture and power injector protocols.
  • When doing cases thatrequire immediate results such as Code Grey, Trauma and PartialTrauma the images will be acquired ,processed , sent andverified/completed in
PACS / RIS

system per establishedprotocol(Immediately after acquisition for Code Grey).

  • The CTtechnologist will notify the radiologist as Code Grey images arebeing sent and follow with any processed data after.
  • All staffshould notify the radiologist of ANY unusual finding to provide theoptimum care for the patient.

  • HS diploma/GED
  • Completion of a Radiographer Technicaltraining program from a School of Radiography or College basedRadiography program.
Preferred Education:

  • ARRT RT (R)
  • ARRT RT (CT)
  • NJDEP
  • NewJersey State X-Ray License.
  • BLS Certification.
