SUMMARY:

he CT Tech isresponsible for performing high-quality CT scans in accordance withphysician orders and departmental protocols. This role involvespreparing and positioning patients, operating CT equipment,ensuring patient safety and comfort, and producing accuratediagnostic images for interpretation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Readscharts, prescriptions and radiology requests to ascertain theexistence of valid physician orders for diagnostic computerizedtomography procedures.
• Obtains pertinent clinical information andfollows special physician requests noted on prescriptions.
• Prepares contract media according to physician’s order ordepartmental policy.
• Assures proper patient identify prior toperforming procedure.
• Initiates life support measures forpatients as necessary.
• Lifts and moves patients with assistance,immobilizes patients as necessary.
• Under the direction of aradiologist, performs diagnostic computerized tomography proceduresat a technical level.
• Identifies disease abnormalities andphysiological processes while performing C.T. scans with initiativeto obtain additional scan, view or other technical factors asrequired to provide maximum information for the Radiologist.
• Selects technical factors and imaging modes on an individualpatient basis.
• Practices aseptic technique.
• Per physician’sorders, administers or inject intravenous contrast media which islimited to the placement or insertion of a needle or catheter, notexceeding three inches in length and not above the level of theaxilla into a person’s upper extremity

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduation from an AMA approved program in Radiological Technology
• Current New York State licensure or permit to practice as aRadiological Technologist.
• Requires ability to think and actquickly in order to deliver efficient, quality patient care.
• Requires good reading and deductive skills in order to interpretphysician requests and effectively solve problems.
• Requiressufficient sensitivity and interpersonal skills to deal withapprehensive patients in a professional and compassionate manner.
• Requires positive and effective communication skills forinteraction with physicians and staff in emotionally chargedsituations.

99 Thelisted base pay range is a good faith representation of currentpotential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may bemodified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
