Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE
Responsible for producing high quality X-ray images in an inpatient setting by conducting exams in a safe and efficient manner. Verifies and follows referring providers’ orders while remaining inpliance with the Imaging Sciences departmental policies. Possesses a sound understanding of human anatomy as well as x-ray positioning and the use if immobilization devices when warranted. Receives training as well as regular direct supervision or guidance from a more senior technologist to perform proficiency of the required tasks. Takes independent responsibility for performing general section studies in a safe and efficient manner,pleting all associated paper andputer work while providing high quality images for radiologist interpretation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepares room and patient per order. Properly sets up equipment, positions patients, and determines proper exposure factors to produce a high quality image. Utilizes electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam specificments from the provider. Understands and practices the Dual patient identifier procedure. Maintains appropriate supplies in the X-ray rooms. Produces a diagnostic, high quality image for interpretation by the Radiologist. Transfers patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lift, transfer boards, hover mats. Maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and ensuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly. Completes and bills for studies accurately. May train new employees or lead day-to-day work activities. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology. required Or equivalentbination of education and experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS CRT
- Certified Radiologic Technologist current NYS licensure upon hire required and ARRT
