- Diagnostic Core Responsibilities
Procedure Support:
o Assist during diagnostic and interventional procedures (e.g., angiography, balloon angioplasty, stenting) by operating imaging systems and prepping sterile fields o Administer contrast media under physician supervision and monitor patient reactions
Patient Care & Preparation:
o Prepare, position, and drape patients for IR procedures, maintaining comfort and safety o Explain procedures clearly and vigilantly monitor status throughout.
Equipment & Imaging:
o Operate angiography and fluoroscopy machinery, conduct routine quality assurance, calibrations, and equipment maintenance o Post-process and archive images in PACS, generate accession numbers, verify exam documentation
Safety & Compliance:
o Maintain sterile techniques, infection control, and ALARA radiation safety standards; wear proper protective gear and badges o Follow protocols for incident reporting, hazardous waste, and HIPAA confidentiality.
Coordination & Documentation:
o Manage scheduling and coordination using
RIS/PACS/EMR
systems. o Maintain supply inventory, prepare injection kits, contrast units, and log QA activities.
- Teamwork & On‑
Call Duties:
o Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and techs; may cover on-call weekends or odd shifts Qualifications & Certifications
Licenses & Certification:
o ARRT certification in Interventional Radiography (CI, CV, or VI) o
BLS/ACLS
credentialing through American Heart Association
Education & Experience:
o Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program. o Minimum 1 year of hands-on IR experience (2+ years preferred for advanced roles) o Familiarity with CT or other imaging modalities is a plus
Technical Skills:
o Proficient in angiographic/fluoroscopy systems, catheter/device setup, contrast injectors. o Experience with
PACS/RIS/EMR
workflow and QA protocols.
Interpersonal & Physical Skills:
o Strong communication, attention to detail, ability to work in high-pressure environments. o Capable of safe patient transfers and handling heavy equipment
