Travel Responsibilities:

• Prepares patient for examination
• Explains procedure in laymanterms to relieve patient of anxiety
• Sets-up equipment toadminister the proper procedure in a timely fashion
• Ensurespatient is screened according to protocol, and assures consent forthe procedure has been obtained, when necessary
• Performs MRIprocedures to include: abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, andextremities
• Places patient on the exam table and positions withinthe gantry
• Keys in patient history data and other pertinentinformation obtained from a requisition completed by the referringphysician who includes anatomical area of interest, slice thicknessand pulse sequences
• Calculates the number of scans to be obtainedbased on patient size, and operates the equipment ensuring therequired images were obtained as ordered by the Radiologist
• Contacts Radiologist to review and ascertain whether additionalscanning is required
• Operates equipment for the transfer ofcomputed images to film, the archival of disc memory to tape, andproper use of PACS System
• Assists the Radiologist withadministration of I.V contrast
• Monitors patient condition anddirectly observes patient during the examination
• Recognizes andpromptly reports to the radiologist, changes in the patient’scondition and/or motor abnormality complaints by the patientincluding: fainting, discoloration, etc
• Performs minor repairsand frequent calibration checks and adjusts equipment, whennecessary
• Troubleshoots mechanical problems of the equipment byperforming minor repairs, as necessary
• Recognizes and reportsmajor problems to management to ensure prompt resolution
• Assistsin patient flow including scheduling exams; assuring patients aresent for in advance of scheduled exam; assuring premedication hasbeen administered on the unit; and completing exams
• Performsrelated duties as required.
