Position Summary:
The X-Ray/Bone Density Technologist will work in a collaborative environment to provide superior patient care. The incumbent will perform all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation, and archiving of bone density/X-ray images, and will be responsible for the care of the patient while in the imaging area.
Primary responsibilities:
Clinical Duties Perform bone density studies Review imaging requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided. Review all questionable orders with the referring physician. Position patient and select appropriate options to ensure best-case imaging. Observe patient while in the X-ray area for change in status and make appropriate intervention or contact primary care givers for instruction. Judge diagnostic quality of finished medical images prior to submission for interpretation. Offer detailed explanation of diagnostic procedures to patients and answer questions as appropriate. Operate and maintain equipment on a daily basis, maintaining logbooks with equipment performance data: schedule PM, perform QA, maintain records required for and participate in inspections. Perform clerical responsibilities associated with acquisition, processing, and archiving of patient records. Address any service calls and follow up as required or as directed, based on operational need. Other duties as assigned.
Required skills/education:
High school graduate or equivalency. Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology. A minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience. NYS License, ARRT certified.
