OPEN CONTINUOUS
ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 28, 2025. Qualified applicants considered and referred as vacancies become available. The incumbent must be able to prioritize and triage all imaging requests in the CT and general radiology section of the Imaging Department. The incumbent independently performs general radiology, portable radiology, and O.R. radiology exams. The technologist this level independently performs advance CT procedures such as Cardiac CT and Angiographic studies. The incumbent performs complex radiographic studies with minimal general supervision. The technologist this level serves as proctor for providing clinical requirements for admission to the CT ARRT boards for new technologists. Supervises and documents requirements need to complete didactic theory, and lab requirement ARRT requirements. At this level, the incumbent performs all the advanced CT procedures including complex pient examinions with little physician supervision. The technologist performs veno-puncture for venous access foriodined contrast exams. The incumbent may be called upon to assist in performing procedures in other specialty modalities. The CT technologist performs general X-ray, fluoroscopic studies, pain blocks, DEXA scanning and CT duties as needed.

The incumbent will work an intermittent schedule to provide coverage during days, evenings, overnights, weekends and Holidays.

All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R). Advanced ARRT certificion is required for assignments th include computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), [or Mammography (M) duties performed independently, as applicable]. Advanced certificion indices th the incumbent [can opere independently] and has demonstred specific clinical competency in the approprie specialty and taken and passed the designed examinion. [In modalities th require advanced certificion, to support their continued development, technologists who do not possess an advanced certificion may be provided on the job training with oversight from a certified radiologic technologist.] Educion. Completion of a full-time training course of least 24 months in durion (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certifice or an associe degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educion in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from [other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Educion (DOE).] Credentialing Standards. Public Law 97-35, the Consumer-Pient Radiion Health and Safety Act of 1981, requires th persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75, Standards for the Accredition of Educional Programs and the Credentialing of Radiographic Personnel. Essentially, they must have successfully completed an educional program th meets or exceeds the standards described in th regulion and is accredited by an organizion recognized by the U.S. Department of Educion and be certified as radiographers in their field. Exception for Non-Certified , Entry Level Candides. Non-certified DRTs who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements for ARRT (R) certificion may be given a temporary appointment as a gradue DRT under the authority of 38 U.S.C. § 7405(c)(2)(B). The appointing official may waive the requirement of certificion for a period not to exceed two years for a DRT th provides care under the supervision of a certified DRT or above the full performance level. This exception only applies the GS-5 entry level technician. For grade levels above the entry level, the candide must be certified. Temporary appointments of non-certified DRTs may not be extended beyond two years or converted to a new temporary appointment. Loss of Credential. An employee in this occupion who fails to obtain certificion within two years, or who fails to maintain the required certificion must be removed from the occupion, which may also result in terminion of employment. Grandfhering Provision. All persons employed in VHA as a DRT on the effective de of this qualificion standard are considered to have met all qualificion requirements for the title, series and grade held, including positive educion and certificion th are part of the basic requirements of the DRT occupion. GRADE REQUIREMENTS.
For the GS-09 grade you must have least one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grad level (GS-08), directly reled to the position being filled th demonstres the clinical competencies described th level. Employees the level are fully functional as an advanced DRT and carry out their assigned tasks independently. DRTs this level may have varying assignments including special and complex imaging procedures beyond the full performance level, clinical institution, and basic QM type duties within the program.
