Staff Radiologic Technologist (part time and per diem)

Non-ExemptSummary:
Performs a variety of radiologic exams to aid the Providers in diagnosis and treatment of their patients. Ensures that exams are done in a timely and professional manner, with emphasis on production of quality radiographs and customer service by performing the following duties.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of PACS systems, and digital radiography systems.
Education/Experience:
Associate’s degree (A.
A. / A. S.
) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in science/radiologic technology or equivalent certificate from an accredited radiologic technology program; and one to three years related experience and/or training as a radiologic technologist in either a hospital or a medical practice environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates and Licenses:
New York State license in diagnostic radiography American Registry of Radiologic Technologist registration required
Equipment:
Diagnostic radiological equipment and corresponding CR and PACS units for medical diagnosis and treatment
Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:
Knowledge of x-ray procedures and protocols Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform radiologic testing including body mechanics and patient movement Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology Skills in proper patient positioning Skills in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor Skills in following infection control and radiological safety procedures Ability to lift and position patients for the type of imaging exam required Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to identify basic pathology on radiographs and provide quality images for different pathologies Ability to identify special needs in patients and tailor exam to meet these needs. Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices
