Travel A CT Technologist (CT Tech) operatescomputed tomography (CT) scanners to perform diagnostic imagingprocedures for patients. The CT Tech is responsible for obtaininghigh-quality images of a patient’s body, which are used byphysicians to diagnose conditions such as injuries, infections,cancers, and other abnormalities. The CT Tech ensures patientcomfort and safety, prepares the imaging equipment, and assists thehealthcare team in obtaining diagnostic information. /n/n
KeyResponsibilities:
/n /n 1. /n
Patient Preparation and Communication:
/n /n
- Prepare patients for CT scans by explaining the procedure,answering any questions, and ensuring they are comfortable. /n
- Verify patient information, including medical history, allergies,and prior imaging, to ensure accurate diagnosis and appropriateimaging protocols. /n
- Position patients properly on the CT tableto obtain the necessary images, ensuring patient safety and comfortthroughout the process. /n
- Instruct patients on how to hold theirbreath or remain still during scans, as required by the procedure.

Operation of CT Equipment:
/n /n
- Operate andcalibrate the CT scanner, ensuring proper settings for each scan,including parameters such as radiation dose, slice thickness, andimaging protocols. /n
- Administer contrast agents or dyeinjections (under physician or radiologist guidance) to enhanceimage clarity during certain CT procedures. /n
- Monitor theequipment during imaging to ensure high-quality images are capturedand that no errors occur during the process.

ImageQuality and Review:
/n /n
- Review the CT images for quality,ensuring that all required areas are captured and the images meetdiagnostic standards. /n
- Work closely with radiologists to ensurethat images are of sufficient quality to support diagnosis. /n
- Repeat or adjust scans as necessary to improve image quality orensure comprehensive imaging coverage.

PatientSafety and Comfort:
/n /n
- Follow safety protocols to minimizeradiation exposure to patients, including using the lowest possibledose for effective imaging and utilizing shielding whereappropriate. /n
- Maintain a sterile, safe, and clean environmentin the CT room, ensuring all equipment is sanitized betweenpatients. /n
- Ensure proper patient positioning to prevent anyrisk of injury or discomfort during the scan, especially forvulnerable patients such as those with spinal injuries, mobilitychallenges, or pregnant patients. /n
- Monitor patients for anyadverse reactions to contrast agents and alert the physician orhealthcare provider if necessary.

Collaboration andCommunication:
/n /n
- Work closely with physicians, radiologists,nurses, and other healthcare professionals to determine theappropriate imaging procedures and assist in diagnosing medicalconditions. /n
- Document patient information, scan parameters,contrast media used, and any complications in the electronic healthrecord (EHR). /n
- Participate in patient care planning, discussingwith the team how to best approach imaging in complex cases.

Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

- Maintain, clean, and perform basic troubleshooting on the CTscanner and associated equipment, ensuring everything isfunctioning properly. /n
- Perform routine inspections andcalibration of CT equipment and alert maintenance staff to anymalfunctioning or unsafe equipment. /n
- Keep accurate logs ofequipment use, maintenance, and any repairs or service performed.

Radiation Safety and Compliance:
/n /n
- Follow allradiation safety protocols to protect both patients and staff,including the use of appropriate shielding and adhering to dosageguidelines. /n
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations,including HIPAA, safety standards, and Joint Commission guidelines./n
- Stay updated on changes to regulatory standards, includingradiation safety, patient privacy, and procedural guidelines.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

- Accuratelydocument imaging procedures, patient information, and any adverseevents or changes in patient status. /n
- Ensure all documentationis compliant with hospital or clinic policies, medicalrecord-keeping regulations, and industry standards. /n
- Assistwith maintaining patient flow by providing quick turnaround timesfor imaging results when needed.

Patient Educationand Support:

- Provide education and guidance to patientsregarding aftercare following contrast injections, potential sideeffects, and follow-up procedures. /n
- Address patient concernsabout the procedure, including fears of radiation exposure orclaustrophobia, offering support as necessary. /n
- Ensure patientprivacy and dignity are maintained throughout the imaging process.

Professional Development and Training:

- Participate in continuing education to stay current withadvancements in CT imaging technology, protocols, and safetyprocedures. /n
- Attend in-house training sessions and seminars onnew imaging techniques or equipment. /n
