Performs technicalradiographic assignments. Exercises complex skills, judgment, andknowledge of the principles and methods of Radiologic Technology.
Performs diagnostic radiographic studies as requested. Operatesportable diagnostic radiographic equipment where needed. Performsinfection control according to Universal Precautions. Demonstratesthe ability to provide care to infant, pediatric, adult, andgeriatric patients. Operates radiographic equipment, imageprocessor, and other related equipment across different modalitieswith accuracy. Evaluates image quality and demonstrates accuracy ofradiographic positioning based on procedure guidelines. Ensuresthat proper radiation protection is used for self, patients, andother personnel by using proper collimation and lead shielding whenapplicable. Demonstrates flexibility in assuming emergency call onweekdays, weekends, and holidays in addition to routine hours.
Demonstrates competency in Radiology Information System (RIS). Usesthe system to enter and edit patient demographics and charges.
Records additional data including repeat rate and notes.
Demonstrates competency with Computed Radiography (CR) and PictureArchiving and Communication System (PACS) for image processing.
Reviews images and selects proper protocols while caring forimaging plates and cassettes as well as troubleshooting. Followsprescribed techniques in administering all aspects of Radiology andcontrast media. Recognizes emergency situations regarding reactionsto contrast media and takes appropriate action. Occupationalexposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Tasksinvolve potential contact with blood, body fluids, and tissues.
