As a Radiology Technologist, you will perform clinical andadministrative duties in the MedStar Health Settings consistentwith policies & procedures. Works under the supervision of aphysician and performs patient intake, standing orders orprotocols, venipuncture, laboratory testing and patient follow up.

Will also administer oral, IM, SC, or intradermal medications whenordered by a provider, after demonstrating competency to theClinical Professional Development Specialist or designee. ClinicalCare Specialists (CCSs) certified as Radiologic Technologists alsoperform and transmit X-ray diagnostic images. This positiondocuments as appropriate in the medical record and supports optimalpatient flow . Primary Duties:

Adheresto MedStar Health Code of Conduct and its Compliance plan; complieswith governmental and accreditation guidelines, completing allscheduled training including, but not limited to, safety, infectioncontrol, OSHA, CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation) , EMR(Electronic Medical Record) , general compliance, harassment, andservice. Cleans, stocks, and sterilizes equipment in addition tocleaning and preparing patient rooms for care delivery. Deliverspatient care consistent with policy and with high regard forpatient/ employee safety and quality of care. Embraces newtechnology an d use of the electronic health record. Managespatient flow with consistent and frequent communication withpatients/family and genuine regard for their time and comfort.

Performs other testing and care consistent with the scope of theMedStar Health practices including, but not limited to, spirometry/PFTs, patient vitals and BMI, EKGs, vision and hearing test,splinting, an d general patient care under the supervision of themedical provider. Performs patient follow up calls for lab tests,patient experience, and clinical results in accordance with po licyand in a professional manner. Performs venipuncture and selectedpatient and laboratory testing (point of care); initiates carepathways in accordance with po licy. Performs x-rays in accordancewith me dical provider orders; forwards images to the app ropriateradiologist fo r overreads ; m ai ntains x- ray equipment andadheres to safety standards. Promotes an atmosphere of respecttoward patients, families, vendors, employers, an d co-workers.

Communicates professionally. Provides care consistent withMedStar’s mission, vision, an d values and in a manner thatengenders patient confidence and loyalty by exceeding expectations.

Serves as a patient escort throughout the care process and ass istsin patient discharge, assuring clarity for the patient or familymember(s). Supports new clinical and service initiatives; seeksopportunities to improve care and the patient experience. Supportsother members of the team during downtime or bottlenecks in patientprocessing. Understands and par ticipates in basic computer andpatient intake skills at the front desk. Supports the medicalprovider in patient examination, testing and education. Undermedical provider supervision, prepares and administers oralmedications and injections limited to intradermal, subcutaneous,and intramuscular after dem onstrating co mpetency to the ClinicalProfessional Development Specialist or designee.

Qualifications:

Associate degree. Completion of an approved R.T. program.

Externship in a medical or ambulatory health setting. 2 years ofmedical office experience p referred. ARRT (American Registry ofRadiologic Technology) Certification. Maryland, Virginia, or DCState License. BLS (Basic Life Support) . This position has ahiring range of $29.15 – $51.68
