PositionSummary:
Performs routine and some special procedure imaging.
Prepares patients for procedures. Assists radiologists. Prepares,operates, and cares for the equipment being used. Processes images/CDs when needed. Adheres to established radiology standards ofcare. Applies principles of radiation protection, when appropriateto minimize exposure to patient, self and others. Assumesresponsibility for assigned areas and duties. Adheres to hospitalwide customer service programs. Performs other duties as assigned,such as quality assurance. Performs diagnostic and some specialprocedure medical radiographic images utilizing CAT scan equipment.

Understands and adheres to the client PerformanceStandards, Policies and Behaviors Prepares and positions patientscorrectly for specific examinations, observing different andspecial requirements for each protocol including properdocumentation on images and required body partquestionnairesAssumes responsibility for designated areas and/ orprocedures and produces good technical images, reviewing completedexams for quality, completeness of the type of test ordered Assistsphysicians during procedures as necessaryPerforms equipment Qualityassurance and calibrations as needed, lets Sr. staff know whensupplies are low and need to be ordered.
Will be required to work incase of emergency procedures or when situations arise in thedepartment. Works on call, holiday, overtime and/or day, evening,and overnight shift coverage to help maintain adequate and safecoverage for the department.
Education & Experience CAT ScanTechnologist must be a graduate of an allied health education andaccredited radiography school or hospital-based program. NY StateDOH Licensure or Limited Permit required. ARRT registered (RT) andradiograph(R) and or (CT) certified and / or NMTCB registered(CNMT), and documented training and experience in operating CTequipment and radiation physics and protection.
Passing advanced CTexamination /certification within 1 year from date ofhire.
Continuing education requirements need to be upheld to meetthe standards set forth by governing bodies. Current standards are24 ECE credits over a two-year period depending on the year ofbirth.DOH IV certification preferred or by completion of 6-monthorientation.
BLS certification through the (AHA) American HeartAssociation is required or must be completed within 90 days ofhire.
